Eye examination and vision screening for optical shops

What it does

• Choose the patient to keep the examination in their record, or run a quick screening that saves nothing.
• Record the reason for the visit, the current glasses or contact lenses and what the patient reports.
• A checklist of urgent symptoms (sudden loss of vision, severe eye pain, a red painful eye, new flashes or floaters, a recent injury) shows clear advice to see an eye doctor the same day.
• Distance visual acuity at 3 m and near acuity at 40 cm with a tumbling E, one eye at a time.
• Pinhole acuity entered by the examiner, colour screening (not an Ishihara test) and the Amsler grid.
• A one-time calibration with a bank card makes the letter sizes right for that phone; acuity values are shown only on a calibrated screen.
• Saved on the phone first and sent to the server when it can be reached. Staff complete examinations; the owner marks them reviewed.

How an examination is done

1. Choose the patient

   Search by name or phone, or start a quick screening.

2. Record the history

   Reason for visit, current eyewear, what the patient reports and any urgent symptoms.

3. Run the tests

   Distance and near acuity, pinhole, colour screening and the Amsler grid, each eye in turn.

4. Review and complete

   Check the summary, add notes and complete the examination. It joins the patient's history.

Questions

• Is the eye test in Asaan Optics a diagnosis?

  No. The tests are screening aids. They do not diagnose and do not replace an eye examination by a qualified professional, and a normal result does not rule out eye disease.

• Which tests does it include?

  Distance visual acuity at 3 m, near visual acuity at 40 cm, pinhole acuity entered by the examiner, colour screening (not an Ishihara test) and the Amsler grid.

• Why does it ask for a bank card?

  Only to measure the screen once: you hold a standard-size card against it, so the test letters are drawn at the right size on that phone. Nothing is read from the card.

• Does it work without internet?

  Yes. The examination is saved on the phone and sent to the server when it can be reached.

• Is it on the desktop too?

  The examination is done on the Android app. The patient's prescriptions and orders are on both.
